Q: Do vaccinations cause future illnesses?

A: One of the more difficult decisions facing parents is whether or not to vaccinate their children. The emotional aspect is brutal. Parents agonize over the decision and in the UK, we still have the option of choosing whether or not to vaccinate. There is the fear of vaccination and possible side effects, and there is the fear of catching potentially fatal diseases if not vaccinated. This is the proverbial rock and a hard place.

It is difficult to know what has made a more dramatic difference in the decline of infectious diseases. Was it mass vaccination or an improvement in sanitation and nutrition? This is a hotly debated topic in complementary and orthodox medical circles alike. When the pertussis vaccination was introduced in 1912, whooping cough was already on the decline from the mid 18th century onwards due to the natural evolution of immunity and the beginnings of proper sanitation.

It is important to note the health of the parents, particularly during conception and pregnancy, as the child may inherit certain susceptibilities such as weak digestion or respiratory problems. These susceptibilities can play a role in potential vaccination reaction. The link between the MMR vaccination and autism cannot be definitely proven, nor can the possibility be ignored. The common denominator in the affected children is the MMR vaccination, but as there is no absolute proof, it remains a question.

One parent I know had her first child vaccinated, and she now suffers from chronic colds, chest and ear infections. The second child, unvaccinated, has stronger acute illnesses, but no chronic condition. When she is sick, it is quick and she bounces back stronger than ever.

You have choices. You can have your child vaccinated with no preparation, you can choose not to have your child vaccinated at all, or you can compromise. You can use homeopathy and nutrition to get ready for the jab and also to recover from the jab. If you decide not to vaccinate, homeopathy can be used preventatively. For more information, I highly recommend the book An Educated Decision by Christina J. Head. Read as much as possible on both sides of the vaccination story, and make your decision as an informed parent.
