Scar Treatment Adrianna introduced this treatment in 2002 at London Bridge Hospital Oncology department. She has been working with scars for over twenty years. Her methods are based on her book Love Your Scar: Breast Cancer and she incorporates many different suggestions to help speed healing. Scar massage is used when there is pain, restriction or fluid retention after mastectomy surgery or other surgery such as C-section or cosmetic surgery. Scars as a result of injury or accident can also be helped with massage therapy as the restricted tissues are softened allowing for better exchange of nutrients and waste removal. The older the scar the more work may need to be done, especially if the underlying muscles are affected. For best results a series of treatments is recommended.
