Reflexology & Facial Reflexology Reflexology (feet and hands) The principle behind Reflexology is that every part of the body corresponds to specific areas in the feet or hands (treating the feet is more common in practice). As the body is mapped on the feet, it is therefore possible to treat the whole body by applying specific pressure to various parts of the feet. A condition or an illness is an imbalance in the body, a blockage in the energy channel. An experienced practitioner will feel for congestion and tension in the areas and apply appropriate pressure. These techniques restore balance and free blocked energy, and ultimately allow the body to heal itself. Reflexology does not diagnose conditions, only a medical doctor can do this. What happens during a treatment? For the initial consultation a detailed medical and lifestyle history will be taken, prior to treatment commencing. Reflexology is a non invasive therapy, you lie back while your therapist works on your bare feet. You may feel some sensitivity during a treatment; however your trained practitioner will work within your comfort zone at all times. How many sessions will I need? This depends on the condition being treated, some may require a weekly / fortnightly session initially, and then as the body begins to restore balance, the frequency falls. Facial Reflexology Facial reflexology is a modern development in complementary health, with its roots firmly in the ancient world. It is a powerful treatment proven to be effective for numerous conditions: acute, chronic or minor. Its success lies in stimulating specific points via the central nervous system, addressing both the cause and symptom, working with meridian rebalancing from oriental medicine. Facial reflexology works with the whole, treating you emotionally, mentally and physically. What happens during a treatment? The initial consultation will involve a detailed medical and lifestyle history. You receive the treatment lying down. This treatment is deeply relaxing; pressure is applied by hand or stimulation is by soft laser to specific parts of your face, depending on the condition(s) being treated. How many sessions will I need? This varies from person to person; generally we have found that Facial Reflexology achieves faster results compared to foot reflexology (for similar conditions being treated). Please note however, we are all unique and heal at different rates, for the majority of us, Facial Reflexology will provide faster healing. However, there may be exceptional cases where the pace of healing is the same with facial as with foot reflexology. practitioner details | pricing information Diagnostic Tests.
