Eczema

I remember the first time I tried homeopathy. I had severe eczema that was no longer responding to steroid or cortisone creams, and my doctor suggested internal steroids. I had been on many restrictive diets, swallowed handfuls of vitamins, changed over my mercury fillings, and still I laid awake at night scratching. I was in a health shop, scanning the shelves for something that would help. I knew nothing about homeopathy and I was desperate. I read through the small booklet to see what remedy would be the best for my condition. My skin was unbearably itchy, cracked, oozing and bleeding. I bought the remedy the booklet suggested, and while it helped at first, it stopped and I didn't know why or what I could do about it. When I eventually went to a homeopath for help, I realized that there were hundreds of remedies to treat eczema, seeing as how the whole person is taking into consideration. I had also not appreciated that as I had suffered from skin troubles since birth, it was going to take more than one remedy to cure me. Deeper treatment was necessary in order to find sustained relief.

A rough rule of thumb is that for every year a person has had a complaint, it will take a month using homeopathic medicines to find long lasting results. I had eczema for thirty years and after three years of treatment, I have no trace of eczema. I have had patients get better very quickly using homeopathy combined with dietary changes and lifestyle adjustments which focus more on health and vitality. Skin complaints are tricky and can take more time as I try to avoid aggravating the condition. Basic skin tips for those suffering with eczema include taking tepid baths or showers, slathering on moisturizer so the skin remains soft and steer clear of harsh soaps and cleansers. Give every effort to resist scratching, as this damages the many layers of the skin, further extending the healing cycle. Pay attention to when you scratch and who or what gets 'under your skin'. It may provide extraordinary insight.
